Naiks- It has been noted in the history of the Marathas in relation to the annexation of the Vasai Fort that the Naiks were a prominent key to get this coveted fort. The Naiks who posed as petty workers or carpenters entered the Fort and mapped it. This crucial information was used by the Marathas to create a base in the important Vasai and Sopara area, which was a major trading port in the times. The descendents of Naiks are settled in Hanjur.
Chogle- The Chogles were credited to be the navy builders of the Maratha Navy. They were rewarded by the ruling Marathas with land near Mumbai, which now constitutes Borivali and the surrounding suburbs.
Chintaman Chogle- was involved in the building of Gateway of India under the supervision of architect George Wittet. He supplied the wooden industrial patterns (molds) to the British which formed the framework for the imposing structure.
Ganpatrao Mhatre- A very famous early 20th century(1876-1947) sculptor.
Mr Bhavanishankar Dadarkar- A great philantropist in his honor the road in Dadar connecting Hanuman Temple and Gokhale Rd (South) was named as Bhavanishankar Road.
Bhaurao Chemburkar- Veteran freedom fighter.

B.K.Pradhan- was the first indian principal of VJTI.
Moreshwar Keroba Patil- Chief accountant at Britsh Army Navy stores, a municipal corporator of Andheri-vile parle borough in British period.
N.K.Mhatre- Annasaheb of Prabhat poultry and Mhatre pen.
C.M.Desai- a noted businessman(Malad).
Bhalchandra Navalkar- income tax commissioner.
G.B.Mhatre- a very famous architect of early 20th century.
Khanderao Paralkar- dean of Sir J.J. School of Arts and a renowned architect.
Patki & Dadarkar- a very old and famous Architectural firm.
Manohar Mhatre- Artist(painter).
